Dave is a seasoned air racing veteran. 2009
marked his 28h consecutive appearance at the
Reno National Air Races. He is qualified and has
competed in five classes; Formula One, Sport
Class, Bi-Plane, Jet and Unlimited.
This year Dave flew his plane, Race 99 Martin's
Legacy (named to honor his father) to a 5th place
finish in the Sport Class Silver Race.
He also flew Gerry Gabe's Polar Bear, Race 25, in
the Unlimited class. Polar Bear is an P51A model
with a distinctive Allison engine. Dave finished 7th
in the Silver Race.
Perhaps more importantly, he completed his 204th
race at Reno, more than any other pilot in the
history of air racing.
We were backed by an excellent crew this year
including our crew chief, Dennis Whittman, Kent
Rhodes, and Madeleine Kenny. Thanks to all the
fans who came out to watch a great week of racing!
